P581: POGIL in the GOB classroom

Penny Workman (University of Wisconsin – Marathon County, USA)

While POGIL has been established as a powerful learning tool in a variety of chemistry courses, available materials for courses designed for allied health majors are limited.  While the available resources present a marked advantage in making POGIL activities available for these allied health courses, the emphases of GOB courses vary greatly among academic institutions.  Institutions that require more in-depth coverage of one or more of the GOB subject areas may require additional materials.  The author has developed a number of activities designed to allow the use of POGIL in introductory biochemistry courses that require more in-depth treatment of subject matter.  The development and implementation of these materials will be discussed.
