P634: Utilizing bioanalytical chemistry to enhance undergraduate curriculum

Robbie Montgomery (University of Tennessee – Martin, USA)

Bioanalytical chemistry is quickly becoming an integral part of undergraduate education and an important component of preparation for students entering professional and graduate school, as well as industrial positions. It is important as educators to find a means to integrate bioanalytical chemistry into our current courses such as instrumental analysis and forensic chemistry to allow students to see the application of these techniques and methods to things they will be pursuing and performing in their future careers. The growing increase in students desiring to attend pharmacy and medical school allows us as educators to utilize bioanalytical chemistry to make relevant and meaningful connections to the students through courses, labs, and undergraduate research, as will be the focus of this talk.
