W70: So I can scan now? Updating Your Old Experiments to Make Use of Scanning Capabilities in the New Generation of Array Detector Spectrophotometers

Gordon Bain, Thermo Fisher Scientific
Sally Mitchell, East Syracuse Minoa High School

Generations of freshman lab manuals have contained experiments built around the venerable SPECTRONIC 20.  Today, even SPEC 20 has been replaced by an array detector instrument, the SPECTRONIC 200.  This workshop will explore how you can update your old experiments to enhance your students’ learning by using the fast scanning capabilities of a modern array detector spectrophotometer; 3-hour session.
